Dr. Melanie Lorenzana is a state licensed and board certified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. Dr. Lorenzana received a Bachelors of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. After her undergraduate studies, she completed a Doctorate of Optometry at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. She then continued extensive training in a primary eye care and ocular disease residency at the Newington VA Medical Center. Dr. Lorenzana is well-versed in diagnosing and treating various eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Lorenzana performs routine and medical eye exams, contact lens fittings, and co-manages post-operative care for refractive and cataract surgery. She takes pride in caring for all her patients and building life-long relationships. Her passion comes from delivering her patients with the best eye care and education for improving their ocular health and wellness.
Besides practicing eye care, in her spare time Dr. Lorenzana enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
